What’s going on with Prince Charles? The royal was all smiles when he visited an innovative housing estate in Dorset overnight – letting his hair down in scenes that aren’t commonly associated with the sometimes uptight heir to the throne.

A rosy-faced Charles laughed and joked with residents of the Poundbury community, a residential innovation which combines both private and government housing.
‘Charles was having a great time,’ says an onlooker. ‘He can be a real grump when he doesn’t want to be somewhere, but his heart was really in this project, it’s something he’s passionate about, and the residents were pleased to see him.’


Planting a tree to celebrate the progress of the housing scheme, which is due for completion in 2025, locals seemed thrilled to rub shoulders with the royal.
‘Charles loved being there and the people loved seeing him,’ says the source.



The royal has every reason to smile, after recently welcoming his new grandson, Archie. Insiders say that Charles relishes being a grandfather and was ‘thrilled’ to welcome Prince Harry and Meghan’s first child into the fold.
‘Charles has a rapport with babies and kids,’ says the source. ‘And that was on display during today’s visit.’
