Prince Andrew warned over contents of Jeffrey Epstein diary

The royal is not enjoying the scrutiny over this case

If deceased socialite Jeffrey Epstein’s powerful friends – including Prince Andrew – thought they were going to get a break from unwelcome scrutiny in the wake of his apparent suicide in a New York jail, they may be in for a shock.

WATCH: Prince Andrew dragged into Epstein sex scandal

It has emerged today that the late financier kept a highly detailed diary about his interactions with his party-loving celebrity friends. The document will now be much sought after, amid growing interest in allegations Epstein trafficked under aged sex slaves to wealthy and powerful men, including a list of politicians and celebrities.

According to a report in UK newspaper the Daily Express, sources close to Epstein have revealed he kept records of his partying with A-listers in ‘meticulous detail’, and among those friends was the Duke of York. The diary was allegedly kept as an ‘insurance policy’.

Figures who are known to have associated with the disgraced socialite include Donald Trump and Bill Clinton – who have both rejected any suggestion they were aware of his criminal behaviour.

‘Jeff knew his relationships with the rich and famous also brought him protection,’ a source told the Express. ‘He kept a diary in meticulous detail just in case he ever needed it.’

Buckingham Palace has strenuously denied allegations by one of Epstein’s former victims that she had sex with Andrew while under the age of consent.

Denying ‘any form of sexual contact or relationship’ between Andrew and Virginia Giuffre the palace asserted that ‘the allegations made are false and without any foundation’.

Photos and flight logs appear to confirm the prince was at some locations with Epstein and Virginia, with the financier regularly flying his powerful mates around the world to enjoy his partying ways.

With Epstein now dead, despite prison protocols that should have protected him from both suicide and murder, and with no security vision covering the event, world attention on the disturbing case has only magnified exponentially since his death – no doubt to the chagrin of those in his social world who might have been hoping his death would be the end of the sordid scandal.

‘One former congressman said there are a lot of people “breathing a huge sigh of relief” now Jeff is dead,’ added the Express’s source. ‘They should hold their breath for a long time to come. It ain’t over.’

Virginia Giuffre insists she was ‘lent out’ to Prince Andrew for sexual favours, while another woman, Johanna Sjoberg, says she was groped on the breast by the royal.

While Andrew has yet to publicly comment on the scandal himself, leaving that to the palace, once again his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson has copped it on the chin, apologising for her past association with the businessman and, bizarrely, seeming to blame herself entirely for allegedly dragging her ex into the drama.

‘I personally, on behalf of myself, deeply regret that Jeffrey Epstein became involved in any way with me,’ she has said.

‘I abhor paedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf.

‘Once again my errors have compounded and rebounded and also inadvertently impacted on the man I admire most in the world, the duke.’

Now it remains to be seen if Epstein’s diary sheds any further light on the matter.
