The 35-year-old and her husband James Matthews welcomed their first child at the same place their son’s cousin Prince Louise was born at the plush Lindo Wing at St Mary’s hospital.

Kensington Palace confirmed the news in a statement saying: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are thrilled for Pippa and James.”

Their son is yet to be named but many believe their baby boy will take the name of his grandfather and father of Kate and Pippa, Michael.

A spokesperson from UK betting agents Ladbroke told The Express “It’s no surprise to see Michael head the betting now that the sex has been confirmed and while we wish mother and baby all the best, attention now turns to what name the happy couple will opt for!”

While Michael is the favourite, other popular names include Alexander – 3/1, William – 7/2, Joseph – 4/, James – 4/1 and Frederick – 9/2.

Less popular but still on the betting list are Thomas – 9/2, Oliver – 10/1, Peter – 14/1, Ronald – 16/1 and Spencer – 20/1.

The young bub was born in the same year as his cousin Prince Louis, who was born in April while his elder cousins Princess Charlotte and Prince George will surely take their first cousin under their wing.
