The Duchess of Sussex‘s mother Doria Ragland is allegedly looking at getting her own place in the UK so that she can spend more time with her daughter, especially if grandchildren come along.
The 62-year-old yoga instructor is currently based in LA where Meghan grew up as a child. She and her daughter have a close bond and a source informed Vanity Fair that the pair “speak on the phone pretty much every day” which is a stark contrast to the strained relationship Meghan has with her father Thomas Markle.
The source confirmed that Doria has already visited the UK a number of times and would stay with Meghan and Harry in their Nottingham Cottage home at Kensington Palace as well as in the Cotswolds with the couple.
“Doria is very close to her daughter, and has made several secret trips to England,” revealed the insider.

Although the move won’t be considered permanent, the source revealed, “I think the idea is that Doria will have a pied-à-terre here so that she has her own space,” and that this would enable Doria to have more freedom and allow her the ability to visit more often “especially if grandchildren come along.”
Doria recently appeared with Meghan and Harry on September 20 at the launch of Together: Our Community Cookbook that included recipes from a group of women who were affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.
The Daily Mail reported that at the reception for the cookbook, Doria greeted guests by telling them, “Hi, I’m Megs mum,” before embracing each woman with a warm hug.”
The cookbook launch is the first public outing the mother-daughter duo have had since the royal wedding in May.
