Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge is without doubt the fashion icon of the modern royal family. She always looks effortlessly chic; never overdoing makeup or accessories and choosing simple, elegant outfits that suit the occasion. She has a keen eye for fashion and she’s never afraid to revisit an outfit if she likes it. Whether it’s a red carpet event or digging in a garden with school kids, Kate always looks incredible and dresses for the moment.
Kate definitely has brands that she loves and will wear often. High end designers such as Alexander McQueen, Mulberry, Emilia Wickstead and Erdem all get the royal seal of approval. However Kate also loves the more affordable high street fashion brands including Reiss, & Other Stories, Hobbs, L.K.Bennett, Jaeger, Topshop, Whistles and Zara.
She’s got a keen eye for footwear and when out of the public eye she loves a pair of Superga sneakers, especially the Cotu plimsoul; the same style Princess Diana loved to wear in the nineties. On the red carpet she’s partial to pumps from Prada, Jimmy Choo, Rupert Sanderson and Stuart Weitzman. Pied A Terre Wedges are a favourite for outdoor events and the gym or on the sporting field it’s New Balance or Nike Trainers.

7. Understated and Elegant
Royal Ascot is one of the social events of the year in England and is awash with racing fans and socialites trying to out do each other with most over-the-top outfits and, of course, fascinators. Kate opted for a typically understated look that turned heads; a blue Elie Saab dress with a sheer bodice and sleeves over a matching slip topped off with a charming Philip Treacy fascinator with a large flower tucked underneath.
6. Outdoors type
A visit to a school garden was perfect opportunity for Kate to wear some her favourite casual country clothes. She’s favoured Penelope Chilvers Tassel Boots for over a decade, perfect for a princess who’s not afraid to get her hands dirty. The duchess also wore an olive sweater on top of a printed silk Joseph blouse with a khaki jacket by the Swedish fashion house Fjällräven. Tan biker skinny jeans from Zara round out the outfit.

Of all the fashion designers Kate admires, the late Alexander McQueen is probably number one. She particularly likes his floral floor length gowns and she wore this one to the 2019 National Portrait Gallery Gala.
