Rumours that Kate and William are expecting a fourth child have been circulating for weeks.

Now New Idea has learnt the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been given the green light to confirm their exciting news – that they’ll be welcoming a baby later this year!
A palace insider reveals Kate and William told the Queen and senior royals about the addition to their family a while ago, but due to recent events, the palace decided to hold back on a public confirmation.
“The immediate family has known about the pregnancy for some time, and while they were forced to postpone the announcement earlier this month amid Meghan and Harry’s bombshell, the Queen now feels this is the perfect time to share their happy news,” explains the source.
In keeping with royal tradition, it’s unlikely the baby’s gender will be officially announced until after the birth, but there are signs the Cambridge family could soon be welcoming another princess.
“Kate’s hinted it’s a girl, after revealing how Charlotte’s been longing for a baby sister and has already been excitedly helping to decorate the new nursery. William slipped that he couldn’t wait to meet their ‘new little princess’,” added the insider.
Last week, the first signs of a small bump were apparent when a glowing Kate visited a London children’s hospital.
“Kate’s stylist, Virginia Chadwyck-Healey, purposely put her in a maternity style loose-fitting coat,” explains the royal source.
Kate’s BAFTA dress was also refitted accordingly.
“Virginia was given strict guidelines to ensure Kate’s pregnancy was visible to the world despite still being in the relatively early stages – putting her in a gown that shows off her happy news and also ensuring that her frock was a show-stopper.”
At the 2018 awards, while pregnant with Louis, Kate wore a dark green Jenny Packham dress for the ceremony, and last year, her white Alexander McQueen gown was paired with earrings that previously belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
But last month
it was revealed organisers had requested attendees – including the royals – to ‘dress sustainably’ in keeping with the London event’s bid to be the first carbon-neutral awards ceremony. In the days before the event, which marks Prince William’s 10th anniversary as BAFTA president, it was widely expected that Kate would choose to rewear one of her older gowns.
Unlike her previous pregnancies, it appears Kate is still in good enough health to attend events such as this one. While pregnant with her other children – George, 6, Charlotte, 4, and Louis, 21 months – the duchess suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum, or extreme morning sickness, which saw her withdraw from royal duties and caused her to be hospitalised.
“Kate has been feeling surprisingly well considering she was bedridden at this point during her first three pregnancies and was forced to cancel her public engagements,” says the insider.
Despite this debilitating condition, Kate has always made it very clear that she would be open to having another child. Last year she even told royal fans in
Northern Ireland that she was “broody” after meeting a baby in the crowd.
“With everything that’s been going on, she and William are looking forward to finally sharing their news and hopefully, being able to turn the tide of disappointment and sadness which has been hanging over the royal family with the announcement of their fourth child.”
