It’s a major move away from Network Ten, where Chris has spent more than a decade hosting Bondi Vet, The Living Room and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here, along with stints behind the desk at The Project.

And now he’ll be hosting Dancing With The Stars Australia for Channel Seven.

Rumours began to brew after the Herald Sun leaked that there was a big shake-up coming. But then DWTS host, Daryl Somers, confirmed it on his Hey Hey It’s Saturday Facebook page.

“Seven let me know recently that they have signed Chris Brown to the network full-time and amongst his commitments he will be hosting DWTS,” he wrote.

Chris is confirmed to be hosting alongside current host Sonia Kruger, who he’s previously worked with on the red carpet at the 2023 TV WEEK Logie Awards.

After hosting the original and the revival, Daryl explained that he was “happy to hand the Mirror Ball over to Chris and wish him all the very best. He should enjoy working with a great team both in front of and behind the camera.”

Ultimately, “confirm[ing] the speculation that I will not be hosting Dancing With The Stars in 2024.”

This is not the first time Channel Seven has confirmed that Chris will kick off his stint on the network, announced previously as the host of the home improvement show Dream Home.

As well as a new adventure series – Once in a Lifetime – that takes in “some of the most mind-blowing scenery on the planet, all in pursuit of the ultimate animal encounter in the experience of a lifetime.”

But he will not be travelling the globe on his own, instead bringing along the country’s most intriguing and entertaining personalities along for the ride as his veterinary assistant!

According to Channel Seven, the show is a “journey into the unknown packed with heart and humour in equal measure as these unlikely duos take on the challenge of helping the world’s most iconic animals – all while hopefully not putting themselves on the menu.”

“To be able to bring my world of animals to life in an original adventurous and breathtaking way truly excites me,” said Chris. “I can’t wait for the world’s wildlife and the search for Australia’s best Dream Home to land in our lounge rooms in 2023.”

Speaking with TV Blackbox, a spokesperson for the Seven Network confirmed that Dream Home would see contestants “update” an existing property.

Dream Home is a successful New Zealand format that ran for 11 seasons,” they explained.

The original Kiwi series aired from 1999 – 2013, with the following premise: “Two couples are challenged to show the country whether or not they are able to work well together, they turn a dilapidated house into their Dream Home.”

Seven’s last home renovation exploit, House Rules, was axed in 2020.

But with Dr. Chris at the helm, Seven is hoping that the new format will revive the network and make their latest reality television program a hit.

As the news of his jump to Seven became public in February, Seven West Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer James Warburton said the network was “very pleased” to welcome Chris back into the fold, and that it had been “too long.”

James explained, “Chris is one of the most popular and recognised people on Australian TV, bringing warmth, intelligence, and a great sense of humour to everything he does.”

“We can’t wait to have him on board and to announce the great new content he will star in,” he ended. (Which turns out, was Dancing With The Stars!)
