A Texas woman shared her ‘rage’ on social media after she was body shamed her for wearing shorts.
Explaining the interaction on Facebook, Huffman said she was standing in line at UPS when a woman delivered the nasty compliment.
‘Woman #1 in front of me was about sixty. As I took my place in line behind her, she smiled and complimented me on my tan and my hair,’ said Huffman.
Hoping to pay it forward, Huffman turned to the woman behind her and smiled.
‘Woman #2 was probably about 30-35, very attractive, about a size 8, wearing a shirt that says “COEXIST,’ wrote. Adding, ‘She says: “Your hair really is amazing, cocks head to side but “You should probably rethink the shorts though.”’
Her face instantly flushed out of ‘rage’ and with her ‘fists clenched up’ and ‘nails digging into my palms’, and Huffman shot back: ‘You should probably rethink your shirt.’
Speaking to People, Huffman said, ‘The fight against other forms of bigotry has been heavy in mainstream media: religious tolerance, sexual orientation tolerance.
‘In comparison, sizeism doesn’t seem as severe a form of bigotry to many,’ she says. ‘Perhaps people think that makes it OK? That saying rude comments are “for someone’s own good?”’
