A search is underway for a missing Queensland woman after a suspected crocodile attack in far North Queensland.
The as yet unnamed woman in her 40’s was swimming with a friend at Thornton Beach in the Daintree at 10.30pm on Sunday when the friend witnessed her being dragged under the water.
The pair had waded in to waist-deep water in an area known to have a high population of crocodiles, and as the woman was dragged away her friend tried desperately to free her from the reptile’s jaws.
The swimmer’s last words before she disappeared were reportedly ‘a croc’s got me’.
The search continues.
