As storms raged through parts of Queensland this weekend, the wedding of Gold Coast couple Alyce Corbutt and Matt Bookless was thrown into disarray.
The heavy downpour meant the couple’s careful planning – which had been more than 12 months in the making and involved them saying their ‘I do’s on top of a hill on a farm – had to be totally revamped with just a few hours notice.
With the roads surrounding the area becoming increasingly waterlogged, the couple was left without a wedding venue.
Alyce’s sister began a desperate search, calling a local radio station to spread the news that a bride and groom were in need of help.
Amazingly, within hours the grateful couple had been given the use of a nearby country club and an interior designer offered to decorate it for free!
‘Matt and Alyce were just ecstatic. They are just loveliest couple, so humble, and if you were ever going to help strangers out they really did deserve it,’ said Marcus Sullivan, general manger of Arundel Hills Country Club.
