He’s the handsome Perth fireman who fought for the heart of Georgia Love on The Bachelorette in 2016 and while Cameron Cranley didn’t get the girl he won hearts across Australia.
Now, in a twist set to shock fans of the Channel Ten reality dating show, rumours are swirling the 27-year-old has been given a second chance at love after being offered the highly coveted role of the Bachelor.
And in yet another bombshell, rumour has it that it’s going to be a family affair as he is bringing his hot younger brother Kyle along for the ride, making history as the first ever double Bachelors.
‘The two brothers are practically inseparable anyway,’ says our spy. ‘They have a great friendship, are always socialising together, making fun of each other and will work well on television.’
But as the handsome bachelors gear up to embark on their search for true love, the closely guarded secret is slowly spreading through reality TV social circles.
‘It was the talk of the Portsea Polo event in Melbourne,’ confirms the insider.
‘The drinks were flowing and he had let it slip to someone, then before you knew it the rumour was spreading. But everyone was so happy for him and telling him he should do it because he really is the sweetest guy and people just want him to be happy.’
Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that the popular TV star was noticeably missing from the Bachelor In Paradise line-up.
‘That kind of confirmed he was in the running,’ the spy spills. ‘Cam is so popular and still single so it would be an obvious choice to have him on Bachelor In Paradise. His absence from that could only mean he was getting the top job.’
But while Cam, a real-life hero and gentleman, is an ideal fit for The Bachelor lead, according to our spies, bringing his brother Kyle along was a perfect solution for network bosses who were worried about ratings dropping.
‘Producers needed to outdo Sophie’s season,’ an industry insider explains.
‘Initially they really wanted a celebrity, but unable to afford Shane Warne, and with runner-up Jarrod Woodgate dating Keira Maguire, they didn’t have many options. They loved Cam but they needed to create some more drama and having Kyle there was it.’
Kyle, a Cam lookalike, is a FIFO (fly-in, fly-out) worker, splitting his time between the Pilbara and Perth.
The youngest sibling of three, the pair also have an older sister called Thalia.
Confident and social, Kyle is often spotted out with Cam at events in their hometown, Perth.
While it is unclear at this stage if the boys will compete for the same bevy of beauties on the show they have both made a pact that if they do have to compete, their relationship will always come first.
‘They sat down with the whole family to talk about it,’ says a close friend. ‘Cam’s life has changed a lot since he became famous and they know it’s only going to be bigger if it all works out this time around. And of course they will put each other first, so who knows what will happen if they do fall for the same girl.’
And despite having many offers and casually dating since he had his heart broken by Georgia, the WA hunk has failed to meet the girl of his dreams. ‘He has found it really hard actually,’ says the friend.
‘He says himself that it’s not a level playing field anymore because when he meets someone they already know his name and who he is and what he has been up to, and it’s been hard for him to determine genuine intentions.’
And while he may have finished in fifth place when he was vying for a rose, Cam has since been dubbed the ‘third wheel’, on dates with Georgia and his former love-rival Lee Elliott, often hanging out with the pair at social events.
‘They all stayed friends and that’s a true testament of the guy’s personality,’ the friend says.
‘Everyone just loves him and his dorky sense of humour and they will feel the same about his brother Kyle, too.’
