She was quick to snap up the new $4 macrame placemats just released at Kmart and has created a gorgeous on trend beach bag!

Posting on The Bargain Hacker, Michelle walks followers through the steps and supplies she used to transform a humble placemat into a fashion accessory!

I snapped up a few of the new $4 Kmart Macrame Placemats pretty quickly as I knew they would be super popular!
I instantly knew they’d make great beach bags because of the gorgeous texture.
The photos show most of the process of how I made it – the secret is finding the right natural coloured rope and twine”, explains Michelle

You will need two $4 Kmart macrame placemats, natural twine and a large wool needle.

You will also need robe to use as the handle on your new placemat beach bag.

Michelle folded over the top of the placemats and hand stitched across the top, see the image above.

Using the natural twine and the large wool needle, stitch the sides and the bottom of the placemats.

Thread the rope through the tops of the placemat and tie knots on the inside to secure the straps.
