The mother of a boy who was mauled in a dog attack has been declared brain dead after suffering a sudden stroke.
The day of Tracy’s stroke she had taken her son Ethan to the hospital to have stitches removed from his reconstructive surgery following a savage mauling at Christmas.
Her daughter, Jessica Dowdy, was with her mum when she said she had a headache and collapsed.
‘All of a sudden, she lost all movement in her body and she passed out,’ Jessica told the Journal-Constitution.
Doctors say that she was already in a hospital meant they were able to save her life. However, the family was tragically told that the stroke was caused by an aneurysm that had left their mother brain dead.
This is the second tragedy to his the family in less than a year when 8 months ago Tracy’s 8-year-old son was viciously savaged by a pit bull.
The boy lost his right ear and has had to undergo reconstruction to his face, including 300 stitches to his left ear.
Jessica wrote on the family’s GoFundMe page that is helping to raise money for Ethan’s ongoing care, and now to help Tracy’s recovery that they are now ‘praying for another miracle.’
