Sara Connor and David Taylor, the couple accused of murdering Bali policeman Wayan Sudarsa, kissed and embraced each other as they were reunited for the first time to re-enact the events of that fateful night on Kuta Beach.
Sara, a 45-year-old mother of two from Byron Bay, removed the sarong from her face so her British boyfriend David Taylor, 34, could kiss her head. She rested her head on his shoulder and they linked arms as they were instructed by police officers to go ‘scene by scene’ through the events that unfurled in the early hours of August 17 that led to the beating death of the officer.
Several more re-enactments are taking place in different locations, as police say they are trying to determine which of the tourists is telling the truth, with ‘several discrepancies’ being found between their two versions of events. The couple’s lawyers say the pair are blaming each other for instigating the destruction of evidence following the attack.
The couple’s tension-filled meeting followed Sara’s emotional reunion with her ex-husband and father of her children, Anthony Connor. ‘They hugged. (They were) crying together, both of them,’ Sara’s lawyer Robert Khuana revealed about their brief, private meeting. ‘(They were) sad because they never thought this thing would happen. Especially now, they’re thinking about their children.’
