Can you actually defy ageing with a good night’s sleep? According to sleep specialist Olivia Arezzolo you actually can.
If you want to ward off the wrinkles Olivia says it’s best to get to bed early before 10pm.
“Our body secretes collagen at it’s best between 10pm and 2am – which we all know makes our complexion glow,” she says.
“That smooth, supple skin we love also repairs during this time – so it’s critical for those suffering acne – tweens, teens, and those going through menopause,” she adds.
Olivia also recommends ensuring you have a comfy mattress to sleep on to make sure you get quality shut-eye.
“When our spine is aligned and the right pressure is applied to our weary bodies, it boosts our circulation – optimising the distribution of nutrients to our skin cells,” she says.
“Enhancing the flow of oxygen throughout the body also enhances detoxification – aka removal of dead skin cells – so it aids in ridding ourselves of nasties too,” she adds.
