Stranger Things star David Harbour delivered a passionate speech after the show picked up a SAG Award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series.

But all eyes seemed to be on his co-star Winona Ryder, who pulled a series of funny faces, throughout the duration of his speech.

Harbour addressed the importance of unity in trying times, and spoke about the parallels between the storyline for Stranger Things and real-life.

“Now, as we act in the continuing narrative of Stranger Things, we 1983 midwesterners will repel bullies, we will shelter freaks and outcasts, those who have no home. We will get past the lies, we will hunt monsters,” Harbour said.

“And when we are at a loss amidst the hypocrisy and the casual violence of certain individuals and institutions. We will, as per Chief Jim Hopper, punch some people in the face when they seek to destroy the weak, the disenfranchised and the marginalised!”

Despite his empowering message, viewers were more distracted by the many faces Winona pulled, and Twitter lit up with commentary about her strange onstage behaviour.
