Tom Cruise and John Travolta have always been devout followers of Scientology but now, Us Weekly is claiming that they are scared to leave.
If you want to leave, expect the wrath of the church.
‘The vengeance they want is scary,’ Karen de la Carriere, ex wife of Church president Herber Jentzsch, told Us Weekly.
‘They want to destroy someone who leaves.’
The publication claims that, when John Travolta was rumoured to be leaving the church, the leaders created a package that included damaging material from his audit tapes (taped sessions where members discuss all aspects of their lives including sex, crimes etc.) that would be leaked to the public.
‘If someone hints that they have doubts, Scientology will go public and slander you,’ former member, Steven Mango told the publication.
However, the Church will go above and beyond for its high profile clients. ‘Celebrities are made to feel powerful, which makes them want to stay,’ Steven revealed.
The Church will do everything for its celebrity members from finding them jobs to arranging relationships, claims Us Weekly. In fact, leaders reportedly chose actress Nazanin Boniadi to date Tom Cruise back in 2004.
But defectors risk it all. ‘Celebrities are blacklisted,’ said Steven. He claims that Scientologists, ‘hold the good jobs’ from former members and keep loved ones away. ‘You get brainwashed into thinking you’ll lose those close to you, even if you have bad thoughts about the church.’
