Commemorating 13 years since their son Daniel went missing, Denise and Bruce Morcombe have made a touching tribute on social media.

Posting a photo of their beloved son on the Daniel Morcombe Foudation’s Facebook page, the heartbroken parents kept their words sweet and simple.

’13 Years today, feels the same as 13 days. Rest peacefully Daniel love Mum and Dad xxx,’ they wrote.

Refusing to give up on their search for their son after he was abducted from a Sunshine Coast bus stop in 2003, Denise and Bruce have since become tireless campaigners for child safety.

‘It would’ve been easier to sit in a chair in a dark place and do nothing, but that’s not us,’ says Bruce.

‘Yesterday is locked in, but tomorrow is open and you want it to be better than yesterday.’

While Brett Cowan was convicted of Daniel’s murder in 2014 after years of questions and uncertainty, the Morcombes say they will never feel closure.

‘The English language hasn’t got the right word,’ says Bruce. ‘We didn’t have any answers for eight years. Now we know he isn’t coming home and it’s very final. There’s still a void.’
