After being named the winners of last weeks kitchen episode, scoring full marks and pocketing $10,000, The Block couple Josh Barker and Elyse Knowles were on top.
Now, the front-running couple has been knocked down after rival contestants, Jason and Sarah, dobbed in their ‘non-compliant’ kitchen.
Shocking the fellow contestants, Josh and Elyse lost points and were told that Jason and Sarah, who came in second for their kitchen, were now tied with them for first place and were also given a cash prize of $10,000.
According to building and safety regulations Josh and Elyse’s gas stove top was too close to the Caesarstone splash back, a safety regulation the judges overlooked.
‘He’s shown his true colours now,’ Josh said about Jason. ‘He shot us down behind our backs and will say to our face, ‘It’s not about the win.”
He added, ‘He needs to learn to shut his mouth and do some work.’
Other contestants were not happy that Jason and Sarah were awarded the win after they were given an extra week to do their kitchen, master bedroom and ensuite, plus being allowed by the teams to sit out of that week’s challenge.
‘Mate, this is dog s***!,’ Sticks, another contestant, said as he fired up at the couple.
