In a Facebook post explaining why, he says, “I met with a revered Shaman in Tel Aviv. He told me about the power of a name, and how what we call ourselves affects our lives”. Although at first he kept the name change private, at age 38, after the end of his first marriage and Australian Idol, he decided he needed to reboot his life and went public with the name change.

I say that I’m vegan because it’s the quickest way to get the explanation across but the truth is I’ve never really called myself vegan.”

I’ve found a way to take the edge off the world again through exercise,” Osher said. He has also spoken about how he has struggled with his weight since childhood.

Back in 2016, the Daily Mail published an article, partly titled “Osher Gunsberg shows off his ‘Bali Belly’,” which included intrusive images of the then tubbier presenter, shirtless and changing into a wetsuit, while on a private holiday in a remote location. Osher stood up for himself  and called the article bullying, writing a complaint to the Australian Press Council. As he says, “Body dysmorphia and the desire to be ‘fit and ripped’, powerful and handsome, like their male idols and celebrity worshipped heroes, leads many men down a garden path to feelings of worthlessness and self-hatred.”
