Oivia Newton-John’s missing ex-lover Patrick McDermott – who is believed to have faked his own death in 2005 amid money problems – is now reportedly living on the high seas off the coasts of Mexico and South America under the protection of a wealthy Mexican family.
In a special investigation, a named eyewitness has confirmed to New Idea that the 58-year-old is alive – a confession that’s sure to shock Olivia, who dated the Hollywood cameraman for nine years.
Respected marina officer milio Oyarzabal Garcia says Patrick is now a regular fixture in the town of Nuevo Vallarta.
‘Yes, I saw him,’ Emilio tells us. ‘He walked past my office window. He has shorter, darker hair now.’
Well-connected sources in the Mexican boating community reveal he is working on a luxury boat for a rich local family, who are aware of his past and offer him protection.
‘He’s been able to hide for so long because there are many people willing to protect him,’ a source says. ‘Lots of Americans come down here to hide, and it doesn’t take long for you to meet the right people who are willing to help you for a price. The US dollar goes a lot further here.’
