Long before the evening itself, this year’s Met Gala caused a stir thanks to a very unusual and decidedly vague theme – “Camp: Notes on Fashion”.
The ‘camp’ instruction, based on a 1964 literary work by Susan Sontag (we told you it was vague), could be interpreted as a call to eccentricity, wackiness and the downright bizarre, but even Vogue empress and longtime Met host Anna Wintour confessed that she had “no idea” what to expect of guests ahead of this year’s extravaganza.

And just as the first lady of fashion predicted, while some executed their ensembles with creative elegance and finesse, many experienced a flop with their sartorial selections falling significantly short of the mark.
