Naylor, who was best known for her role as Regan McLeod, opened up in a recent interview about how she overcame her addition.

‘In my late teens and early 20s, I was a heroin addict,’ the 39-year-old told Channel Seven’s The Daily Edition.

Adding, ‘I was a clichéd overachiever – I was head girl of my school, had a scholarship to Uni.’

Naylor said at the time she believed it was just a ‘phase’, however; it became much more than that.

‘I would’ve termed myself a party girl or a good time girl,’ she said.

‘I really didn’t know that I had that issue.’

Seven years ago Naylor began her road to recovery, and now encourages other people to do that same.

‘It’s an undercurrent of anxiety where you’re looking to numb out or feel better by an external source,’ she said.

‘So to me, a journey of recovery is about finding that ease within yourself.’

Naylor married her husband and co-star Aaron Jeffrey in 2010. The couple have two children together.
