Former MAFS star Ines Basic wants Australia to know she’s not the heartless ‘cheater’ the show portrayed her as.
The 29-year-old opened up to New Idea in an exclusive interview about her love life post-MAFS and how her life has changed since saying ‘I do’ to a stranger. Apart from a brief fling with an ex-boyfriend, she admits she is happily single.

“I still want children. But I don’t really care for marriages, they are expensive and way too extra for me. I’ve never been one of those girls to just have a relationship for the sake of one. I don’t even date much,” Ines tells New Idea.
“I just don’t waste my time. And guys give me headaches! I don’t need a headache; I’ve had the worst headache all year!” Ines endured the wrath of Australia after she betrayed ‘husband’ Bronson Norrish by hooking up with fellow castmate Sam Ball.
The aftermath of becoming an overnight celebrity traumatised Ines, who admits she hasn’t fully recovered more than 10 months later.
“I had some really horrible death threats and the police had to [do] a drive-by past my house because of a stalker.
It was terrifying! For a girl who’s barely weighing in at 50kg, that is so scary,” Ines continues.
“I just didn’t feel safe leaving my house. Even in my house, I didn’t feel safe.” As the trolls piled on, the former legal assistant says her health rapidly deteriorated.
Paparazzi shots showed Ines looking skeletal and puffing on cigarettes – and she confesses she ‘lost her appetite’ as MAFS aired her dirty laundry.
“I was on my deathbed, at one stage. I’ve always been a size 6 in my life. I dropped down to smaller than a 4. I was really scared.
“I thought if I lose one more kilogram, I might die,” Ines says. “Now I’m at the same size I was when I started filming. I’m trying to get a bit leaner, so I go to F45 three times a week.”
Ines doesn’t speak to many of her fellow contestants – especially not Bronson and Sam – but sometimes chats to Jules Robinson and Jessika Power.
And after spending so long being hunted by the public, Ines is ready to strip herself of the ‘reality star’ label.
“Even having my name attached to that show now, I feel ashamed, to be honest,” she says. “It’s a false world and I don’t like living in it. I’m just not like that. I haven’t brushed my hair in three days, and I hate wearing makeup.
“Only in the past month have I started to get back to my grounded self. It’s only going to get better.”
