Olympian Libby Trickett has posted a heartfelt message on Instagram marking her daughter Poppy’s first birthday.
The former swimmer has been honest about motherhood since giving birth a year ago, opening up about the mixed emotions the new role provokes.
‘For a while I thought you didn’t love me, and for some very brief, fleeting dark moments, I thought I didn’t love you,’ she wrote.
‘Now I know it’s actually the very opposite that’s true. I love you so much it is like an ache that never stops,’ wrote Libby.
‘I want to do better, be better and give you all that I can.
‘Thank you for challenging me and literally making me laugh out loud. You have given me a joy that I never knew could exist and I can’t wait to continue to watch you grow.’
