According to reports, the former reality TV star is set to spend one year and one day behind bars, followed by two years of supervised release.

Chief Judge Joy Flowers Conti also fined the 50-year-old $US40,000 and ordered her to pay a $US120,000 judgement.

“You weren’t truthful, even when you knew you were supposed to tell everything, you still weren’t truthful,” Conti told Miller during sentencing.

“Somehow you got caught up in the world of fame and you lost your moral compass.”

Miller also blamed the perils of the spotlight for her predicament.

Dance Moms became a hit and I became the laughing stock of reality TV,” she said.

The dance teacher – who shot to fame after appearing in the Lifetime series – will reportedly serve her time in a prison as close to Los Angeles as possible.

In 2015, Miller was indicted on 20 counts of fraud for hiding $US755,000 worth of income from the government and bringing $AU120,000 into the US without reporting it.

Her lawyer has since told media that the defense “respects” judge Conti’s decision and has no plans to appeal.
