It really was royalty on parade when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge opened Kate’s Back to Nature garden at the Chelsea Flower Show, with House Rules’ king of the quip, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen turning up with wife Jackie. The appearance was the coup de grâce in a headline-grabbing week, that has seen the beloved reality star revealing a little too much about his colourful history with hallways – (WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW).

LLB and Jackie, who have been married for 30 years, have a history with the royal family, with the star having worked on interior redesigns for the Queen and Prince Phillip. But if his recent joke that Meghan Markle is ‘far too dull’ to want his interior flamboyant design talents ruffled any royal feathers, that wasn’t apparent on the big day.

LLB and Jackie share two kids, Cecile, 23, and Hermione, 21, were rarely apart during the outing.

‘We are constantly aware of how lucky we are to be together for so long,” Laurence, 53, has told New Idea.

‘In the context of our marriage we have had tremendous highs and we have had tremendous lows. And we have worked very hard to build something together.’

So, what does Jackie have to say about the famously sassy style guru?

‘Husbands need to learn if they do what their wife wants the first time ‘round they won’t get nagged,’ she jokes of their marriage. “’But, it’s actually about friendship and it’s about commitment.’

‘You can have a s–t week, a c–p month or an irritated year, but in the context of a 30-year marriage, that’s nothing. You have to be patient and realistic,’ adds Laurence.

‘And blondes are always right,’ he laughs.
