Victorians Claire and Hagan have won fans around the nation with their down-to-earth attitude and upfront approach.
But what viewers don’t see is the couple’s behind the scenes struggle, desperately missing their two young children Matilda, four, and Darcy, two.
‘We felt so terrible about leaving them,’ Claire says.
‘I really struggled in the beginning and then as the competition went on, Hagan was the one who couldn’t cope.’
When the engaged couple left to film the show, their youngest Darcy was just 19 months old and just learning to walk!
‘It was so hard leaving her, she changed so much,’ Claire recalls, sadly.
‘She just started to walk when we left her, so I’m glad we didn’t miss that. She was trying to talk too but it was still baby talk!’
