Sources tell New Idea tensions are already said to be mounting between actresses Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Aniston, who are apparently locked in a tug-of-friendship battle over their mutual buddy and co-star Reese Witherspoon.
“Nicole and Jen used to be good pals but lately they’ve been competing over who gets to hang out with Reese,” confides a source.
“It’s become super awkward, but they haven’t had to deal with it publicly until now. They’re all pretty fiery and used to getting their way, so you can expect the claws to come out bigtime when they’re all in the same room.”
Making matters worse could be that both are duelling it out for the coveted Golden Globe Best Actress in a Drama Series award, with Nicole hoping to be rewarded for her role in Big Little Lies and Jen for Morning Wars. With Reese also up for the same award, this could add to the tension.
As Reese co-stars with both her friends in each project, she’s feeling conflicted.
“She just wishes they could all get along and stop being so competitive and childish,” adds the insider.
“In one ear she’s got Jen telling her to sit at her table and at the same time Nicole’s trying to put her foot down and call the shots.”
There could also be friction between Jennifer and star Charlize Theron, who’s tipped to win big for her role in Bombshell.
“They don’t like each other at all so there won’t be any love lost between either of them,” claims the insider.
“It doesn’t help that Charlize was linked to Brad [Pitt] earlier this year.”
