It’s only been a few short weeks since Grant Denyer cheated death after a horrifying crash that saw him spin out of control in his rally car and subsequently get airlifted to hospital.
Speaking to New Idea, the beloved Family Feud host says the terrifying accident has shaken him to the core.
‘I think we’re going to be reassessing what I do now,’ the avid racer admits, as he questions quitting his favourite hobby altogether.

‘Whenever you get a close call like that, it really does shake up your perspective a lot. It brings you closer to your partner and your children, you know… It’s hard. It was a really close call, in all seriousness,’ says the father to Sailor, five, and Scout, 18 months.
Fans feared the worst after reports the 39-year-old reached speeds of up to 154km/h in the Lake Mountain Sprint, narrowly missing a tree and leaving his race car a crumpled wreck.
‘I’ve had 300 races and I’ve only been in hospital twice – that’s not too bad, although the last one did nearly kill me,’ Grant says.
‘I feel OK – I feel highly medicated, so that’s getting me through pretty well.
Grant’s latest crash saw him break his coccyx and finger and sustain lower back bruising, while leaving his Lotus in an irreparable state.

His wife of seven years, Cheryl – affectionately known as Chezzi – reveals she’ll never forget the moment she got the call about her husband’s accident.
‘It wasn’t really the phone call I was expecting,’ a still shell-shocked Cheryl recalls.
‘We’d only found out three hours earlier that Grant had been nominated for a Gold Logie, so when my phone was ringing I thought it was people congratulating him.’
