We’re invited into their homes every week to watch their reactions to popular TV shows.
But for Isabelle Silbery, who appears on Gogglebox with her mother Kerry and grandma Emmie, it’s also been a platform to voice a very personal admission at the beginning of season five – she’d split with her husband of five years, Craig.
‘Now there are three single ladies sitting on the couch,’ she exclaimed in the first episode, before adding: ‘No more men!’
Other than these subtle comments, Isabelle has remained quiet on her split – until speaking exclusively with New Idea.
‘I said it knowing it was going to be on the show,’ Isabelle says.
‘When your marriage, or your status or living arrangements change, it changes what perspective you’re coming from in your life. I didn’t feel like I could be true to our proper reactions if we were watching something like Married At First Sight, or anything about relationships or men and women – I have to be honest…’
The 31-year-old felt it was her duty to be sincere with her loyal Gogglebox viewers.
‘It’s a big change in somebody’s life and it changed our dynamic on the show between the three of us, because I’m no longer in a relationship and guess who’s been there to support me – they [Kerry and Emmie] have,’ Isabelle admits.
‘They’ve both been through it themselves. It’s made us even closer since it happened. I hope I got the message across that we’re three single ladies and we have each other – not that we hate men or we don’t need men. That’s life and s*** happens.’
