Cher has made the devastating announcement that she will be dropping out of an upcoming movie appearance due to grave concerns for her mother’s health.
The 70-year-old singer and actress was due to appear in a Lifetime movie about the 2016 water crisis in Flint, Michigan, but revealed in a statement that she would not be able to complete her commitments due to a ‘serious family issue’
‘This has been a project so near and dear to my heart and I was truly looking forward to helping tell this story. Unfortunately, I will be unable to leave Los Angeles during the scheduled filming as I am dealing with a serious family issue that prevents me from going on location for the April filming.
‘I’m so glad that Craig and Neil [the producers] plan to move ahead and I know that this Lifetime movie will be done beautifully.’
The news follows much speculation about the state of Cher’s own health in recent months, however sources close to the legendary singer insist the concerns lie with her 90-year-old mother.
‘Cher’s worried about her mother’s health. She’s in her 90’s now and does not want to be far from her. Her mother is not deathly ill, but is somewhat fragile. Cher’s health is fine,’ a source revealed to Entertainment Tonight.
