Yesterday it was reported that Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston ended their three month, whirlwind romance, and now today Taylor’s ex Calvin Harris has dropped a new interview detailing their split. This is the first time Calvin about the very public break up and he’s not holding back!
Speaking candidly to GQ following the magazine’s annual Men Of The Year Awards ceremony, the Scottish DJ revealed that while the initial break up was amicable, it was the following events that left some ‘bad blood’. After their split, Taylor leaked the news that she’d help co-write Calvin’s latest hit with Rihanna, ‘This Is What You Came For’. After this Calvin slammed his ex on Twitter in a series of tweets that hinted at Swift manipulating the break up to fuel her own agenda.
Calvin has now revealed that he regrets losing his cool, saying: “It was completely the wrong instinct. I was protecting what I see as my one talent in the world being belittled. It felt like things were piling on top of me and that was when I snapped. I’m not good at being a celebrity, but when it ended, all hell broke loose. Now I see that Twitter thing as a result of me succumbing to pressure. It took me a minute to realise that none of that matters. I’m a positive guy.”
The usually private star also revealed that the 15-month relationship’s publicity was outside his comfort zone: “For both of us it was the wrong situation. It clearly wasn’t right, so it ended, but all the stuff that happened afterwards…The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicised than the relationship itself. When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus. She respected my feelings in that sense.”
The pair have re-followed each other on social media following their break up dramas, but have not been present at the same award shows, nor acknowledged each other since.
