Country music legend Dolly Parton has been left devastated by the untimely death of her niece, Tever.
The 36 year old – who had a history of struggling with drug addiction – died in late March and was quietly buried in a private ceremony.
According to Radar Online, Dolly claimed to be ‘too sick’ to travel for the funeral, and was not mentioned in her niece’s obituary.
However the music legend has been far from uninvolved in the past, shelling out $25,000 for rehab treatment for Tever, who reportedly slipped back into her old habits after completion of her treatment
‘She lost jobs from her drug use,’ a family insider told the site of Tever’s decline before her passing. ‘She was trying to get a counseling degree’.
According to reports, Dolly’s niece struggled with crack and cocaine addiction, and prescription painkiller abuse. Amid reports that she assaulted a former partner’s mother for drug money, and was arrested for intoxication, an arrest report allegedly went missing in Tennessee – with the woman’s ex partner Anthony Rose claiming her family would ‘definitely do anything’ to keep her troubles out of the public eye.
Dolly has yet to make a public comment on the tragedy.
