Queen Elizabeth was reportedly left “hurt and disappointed” after Meghan Markle skipped the royal family’s trip to Balmoral to visit New York over the weekend.
According to The Sun, the Duchess of Sussex flew out on Friday to see her friend Serena Williams compete in the US Open final.
In doing so, Meghan snubbed the Queen’s invitation to attended the Highland Games – a move that royal insiders say left Her Majesty feeling disappointed.
The Mail on Sunday referred to Meghan’s move as an “outright snub” adding that the Queen was “hurt and disappointed at a time when she likes to bring her friends and family together.”
According to their sources, the Queen has set her heart on “a few days of merry chaos” with her great-grandchildren, including Meghan and Prince Harry’s son Archie who is yet to visit Balmoral home with his parents.

While Buckingham Palace is yet to comment, The Sun revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex — unlike other royals — had declined a visit to Balmoral to see the Queen on her Scottish holiday because four-month-old Archie was too young.
According to News.com.au, a spokeswoman for Meghan also said it was because the couple was “too busy” with work, adding that the Duchess had taken a British Airways commercial flight from London Heathrow to New York over the weekend.
While Meghan watched Serena Williams compete against Canadian Bianca Andreescu in the US Open final over the weekend, the Queen was accompanied by Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles at the Braemar Gathering Highland Games.
Her Majesty was pictured with her son, wearing a regal purple coat and matching hat as they joined 15,000 cheering spectators at the event.
Charles – known as the Duke of Rothesay in Scotland – was seen sharing a joke with Princess Anne‘s son Peter Phillips.
News.com.au also reported that the Queen hosted Boris Johnson and his partner Carrie Symonds at Balmoral last night.
