Envy between royal heirs is a tale as old as time, and yet we haven’t heard this one before.

A report from Express has revealed that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are jealous of their cousin Zara Tindall for her status in the royal family.

Zara – who is the daughter of Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter, Princess Anne – is placed lower in the line of succession than her younger cousins (the daughters of the Queen’s third child, Prince Andrew).

As a result, Zara was never entitled to the rank of “Her Royal Highness” and Princess Anne declined to give her daughter a title (just as she had when Zara’s elder brother, Peter Phillips, the Queen’s first grandchild, was born in 1977).

However, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were given formal royal title as the children of a monarch’s son.

The publication reported that this has enabled Zara to live a more normal life than the Duchesses and is able to enjoy a greater degree of freedom while still maintaining her royal roots – a reality that has sparked envy amongst the sisters.

According to Express, it appears unlikely that the daughters of Prince Andrew would have been able to accomplish the same life as their cousin.

Zara’s family connections to equestry assisted her in becoming a champion horse rider as both Princess Anne and Mark Phillips competed in horse riding events.

As a result, the royal couple could offer Zara the best advice and support (as well as the best horses and training grounds) to help develop her natural ability.

Unlike Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, Zara was also not required to fulfil many obligations of the British royal family.

Zara’s absent royal title has afforded her a life largely outside the demands of royal life.

This is further highlighted in her choice of partner – Mike Tindall – who isn’t the usual bridegroom for someone with a royal title.

“I’m very lucky that both my parents decided to not use the title and we grew up and did all the things that gave us the opportunity to do,” Zara told The Times in 2015.

On the other hand, Princess Eugenie was recently left devastated after her dream of launching an anti-sex slavery podcast has been dealt a bitter blow by her father Prince Andrew’s ongoing sex scandal – with plans for the groundbreaking project reportedly put on hold.

With Andrew accused of having sex with an underaged girl supplied by his friend, late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, Eugenie’s work with the Anti-Slavery Collective – which involves cases of young girls being trafficked for sex – has been overshadowed.

A source told The Sun that the 29-year-old is struggling to deal with the drama.

“It’s all very difficult for Eugenie at the moment — she and Beatrice are very close to their father and are being very supportive.

“But obviously, the timing of her anti-slavery and sex trafficking initiative is hugely difficult given the renewed headlines around Andrew.

“She won’t want to launch a new podcast against modern-day slavery when that’s exactly what Epstein was doing.

“I’d expect the launch to be quietly put back.”

The podcast had been a major project for Princess Eugenie, who has been desperate to make her own name, instead of being unfairly seen as a just another minor royal mooching off the system.
