It’s the news that royal fans in Australia have been waiting 12 years to hear.
New Idea can exclusively reveal that Prince William and Princess Kate are actively planning another visit to Australia.
When the Prince and Princess of Wales were last Down Under in 2014, their eldest son Prince George was only an infant, and Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte hadn’t even been born yet!
With excitement on the rise around their big return to Australia, we can reveal that it won’t be a standard royal visit.
This time, it will be a “joint tour” with Mike and Zara Tindall, who visit regularly and will be the perfect tour guides.

When are Prince William and Princess Kate visiting Australia?
While they have been invited to visit by the Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, the royals haven’t yet confirmed a date for their visit, though royal insiders suggest it could be in late 2026.
William’s cousin, Zara, and her husband, Mike, have been famous for their Australian jaunts, often attending sporting matches and visiting local businesses.
In fact, Zara and Mike even met for the very first time at the Manly Wharf Bar in Sydney back in 2003, so Australia holds a very special place in their hearts.

“William and Kate would love to join Mike and Zara on their January jaunt to Oz, but they have to dance a delicate line with official royal duties and partying up a storm with their besties,” the source exclusively tells New Idea.
“Mike and Zara love Australia so much they’re always threatening to leave and never come back, which is why William and Kate love the idea of getting the ‘full Tindall Down Under’ experience.”
Proving their love for Australia, the Tindalls have even hinted at making a permanent move Down Under.
For William and Kate, our source says “teaming up” with Mike and Zara would make the tour “more fun”, especially for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Our insider adds that the Princess of Wales also “loves the idea” of going to the Australian Open in January, following her attendance at the Wimbledon Men’s Finals with William, George, and Charlotte in tow.

Robert Irwin’s plans for the royals
If the joint visit goes ahead, that won’t be the only activity on their itinerary – especially if William’s close friend, Robert Irwin, has anything to do with it.
“William’s promised to bring the kids to the Irwin zoo one day, and Robert takes every opportunity to remind him of that,” another insider previously told New Idea.
“It’s all unnecessary, of course, because William and Kate have Australia on their schedule every year, but something always comes up that forces them to push it back.”
The connection between the future King and the Irwin family remains stronger than ever. Robert has been open about their bond, exclusively telling New Idea that he admires his dedication to the environment.
“He is such a committed human being when it comes to conservation; he just gives it his all, and he really is just making a massive difference when it comes to the future of the planet,” Robert told us at the 2024 TikTok Awards about his time with him in South Africa for the Earthshot Prize.
