Meghan Markle is allegedly flying her mother, Doria Ragland to the UK for Thanksgiving.

“From what I know, they aren’t coming here [to Los Angeles]. Doria is going there for the holiday [Thanksgiving],” a royal source told The Daily Mail.
While the 63-year-old will spend the holiday at Frogmore Cottage with Meghan, Prince Harry and their son Archie Harrison, the insider says they won’t be celebrating Thanksgiving.
“They won’t be officially celebrating Thanksgiving because it isn’t a British holiday but Meghan is considering spending some of the day helping out at a homeless shelter in London,” the source said.
The news comes as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex break away from the royal tradition of spending Christmas at Sandringham with the Queen.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month. Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, [the couple] will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria,” Buckingham Palace wrote in a statement to royal correspondent Omid Scobie.
The royal couple are believed to be taking a six-week break following Prince Harry’s appearance at Royal Albert Hall on Sunday.
Royal experts have debated the reason for their snub, which hasn’t helped rumours of an ongoing rift between Meghan and Harry and the Royal Family.
“They need some time away to recharge and decide their plans for next year,” a source told The Sun. Others have suggested it may be due to concern for Archie.
“Christmas at Sandringham can be quite stressful so perhaps they don’t want to go with Archie at such a young age,” hypothesised royal biographer Ingrid Seward.
However, she also noted Sandringham has always played host to “many many children” over the years and is “well set up for them.”
“It does seem to be nothing to do with Archie and to do with their own personal feelings,” she concluded. What’s more, Ms Seward argued that their decision is a sad one considering the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are “in their dotage.”
“The Queen might be a little hurt but she’s far too gracious to ever let it show or be known,” the royal expert added.
On the upside, Prince William and Kate Middleton (along with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis) appear to be on track for joining Her Majesty in Sandringham for Christmas.
Buckingham Palace is yet to comment further on the Royal Family’s movements over Christmas.
