The Duchess of Cambridge penned a note to inform followers of the Kensington Royals Instagram account about the work of a charity she visited with Prince William on their royal tour of Pakistan.

“The community at the SOS Village is built around family — and the best possible family you could imagine — where everyone comes together to nurture, love and protect the children in their care,” the mother-of-three wrote in her first Instagram message.

“These vulnerable children, many who have come through traumatic circumstances, are nurtured in this caring environment and are able to form these quality relationships that they so desperately need to thrive,” Kate continued, before signing off as “Catherine.”

According to People, this was William and Kate’s second visit to the SOS Children’s Village charity, due to being grounded in Lahore after an electrical storm prevented the royal couple from returning to Islamabad.

A source told the publication that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were able to “delve deeper into the stories of the children, and the graduates, of the remarkable set-up.”

“Some of the things I’ve been looking at back home are how best do you support children and what do they need to have a successful life,” Kate reportedly told mentors at the facility.

“One, it’s about quality relationships and two, the environment. What’s great is that you have both here.”

The 38-year-old had particularly been looking forward to visiting the SOS Village, later discussing the luck of being able to return for a second time.

“I’m so glad we came back to get the full picture,” she said the Duke added, “I could feel that there was more to talk about.”

In a conversation with CNN royal correspondent Max Foster (her first TV interview as a royal), the duchess discussed the visit.

“I think William and I really wanted to come and see [the Village],” she said. “You know, there’s so many vulnerable women here, but they’ve really used their positivity and the support that the village here provides them really to support and protect the next generation, the children in their care, and give them the best possible start to their future lives.”

In addition, Kate discussed their royal tour of Pakistan as a whole, saying:

“It’s been fantastic, we’ve seen a lot of Pakistan, a huge variety. It was amazing seeing some of the geography, but then to see some of the community activities like this has been really special.”
