There will be no time to relax once baby Sussex enters the world.
While most new parents have the luxury of some private time when they welcome a newborn, it seems Prince Harry and Meghan will have a lot on their plate from the moment the little one arrives.
- The Queen MUST be the first to know
Once baby Sussex arrives, Her Majesty will be Harry and Meghan’s first port of call to let her know the little one is safe and well.
- Official statement to be made by the Palace
This will pop up on the official website as well as social media accounts for the royal family.
- Official birth notice at Buckingham Palace
The confirmation will be placed on an easel on the official Buckingham Palace letterhead and will be signed by the doctor who delivers the baby. It will include the baby’s gender, time of birth and a short statement about how mum and bub are doing.

- Couple to pose for iconic moment
It is understood that Meghan and Harry are likely to introduce their newborn on the steps of Lindo Wing, just like William and Kate.
- Name won’t be announced for a few days
If history repeats itself, the world won’t know what name the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have chosen for their newborn for at least a few days.
- The baby will have more than one name
And the Queen will need to approve all of them. For example, Princess Charlotte’s middle names are Elizabeth and Diana.

- He or she may not be given a royal title
It is up to the Queen to decide whether the little one, who will be seventh in line to the thrown, will be known as a Prince of Princess.
- Traditional gun salute
The 21 round gun salute will be carried out by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery to mark the special arrival.
- The christening
Baby Sussex will wear a replica of the Honiton lace and satin gown made for Queen Victoria’s daughter in 1941.
- The Godparents
Speculation is rife that Meghan will ask sister-in-law Kate to be godmother, however a royal baby usually has about three or four godparents. Who will they be?
