We’re down to just seven girls and in episode 12 the girls compete in a Segway race in a test of skill, compatibility and chemistry to win Nick’s affection.
Frontrunners Brooke and Brittany are chosen as team captains for the two teams.
“We’re in it to win it,” Brittany seethes. Cass, who is in Brittany’s team is also keen to win, so she can spend more time with Nick.
Sophie who keeps calling the Segway a subway can’t get enough on riding on the vehicle and she also has no idea who Nicola Tesla in the questioning round.
Nick has a go on the Segways and Brittany isn’t impressed. “He’s like a Ninja turtle, without the Ninja. He was just a turtle.”
Next up it’s Brittany’s turn and she’s flying round the corners, so much so she has a massive fall and narrowly loses out on some alone time with Nick.
With tension among the girls brewing, the near miss brings up long held resentment and jealousy in the household.
Nick chooses Brooke to spend some one on one time with and the girls aren’t happy.
“It’s very clear Nick has feelings for Brooke. There’s definitely something going on between them,” laments Sophie.
Shannon is equally ‘gypped’. “I’ve had no one on one time with Nick,” she sighs teary eyed.
Brooke and Nick then cosy up on an intimate date, Nick fondles her shoes and calls her feet hoofs.
Brooke isn’t too happy being likened to a trotter so she insists on him calling them tootsies instead. Nick agrees. They talk about how much they have feelings for one another.
“My feelings have deepened and are getting stronger,” reveals Nick. “You are such a genuine person…I see so much potential,” sighs Brooke.
She gets a rose. They snog. He doesn’t do the weird tongue flick thing. Thank god.
Next up Nick takes Emily on a dream date to the Opera House, where they both put on some tights and learn and perform a pas de deux routine in front of the principal dancers of the Australian Ballet.
Nick’s a bit taken aback about putting on a jock strap. “If you balls that up the wrong way… it will be a balls up,” says Nick showcasing another of his stellar puns.
“I can’t wait to see you in it,” giggles Emily. When she sees him in tights she literally frothing at the mouth. “He looks soooo good in tights,” she purrs.
After dancing the lovebirds quaff some more bubbles overlooking the Opera House, it’s the perfect setting for romance. Emily talks about having feelings for Nick. She needs to know where she stands.
But instead of getting all lovey dovey, Nick talks about her hair. They struggle to find a connection. Nick confesses to the camera he isn’t feeling the same as he did on the last date.
They kiss on the cheek. She appears to be friend-zoned. Emily turns up to the cocktail party without a rose, the girls pretend to feel sorry for her.
Osher announces that the girls will be given one last chance to impress Nick before he chooses the lucky lady to join him for the final single date before hometowns.
Shannon (Shazza) is called aside with Nick and she does his best to impress him. Then he calls the rest of the girls one by one. Sophie feels like the pressure is on. She attempts to illustrate how she feels about him using a white board and draws some butterflies and a big red heart.
The winner theme music is played. Everyone is now thinking Sophie might actually have this.
“Soph that’s beautiful,” sighs Nick. She scores the single date. Shazza starts to get really upset.
“There’s one single date left and it’s Sophie,” she wails and storms out of the cocktail party.
At the rose ceremony Dasha, Emily and Shannon are all feeling extremely vulnerable.
They also happen to be the last three standing but it’s Shazza who doesn’t get the rose.
“You should have kissed me,” she insisted to Nick all blubbery and teary eyed, but Nick is too confused to answer.
Bye, bye Shazza…
