They were this season’s poster couple – attractive, devoted and seemingly rock solid. But now New Idea can reveal that behind Sarah and Telv’s smiles, lies a sad reality far from wedded bliss.
Explosive rows, wild nights and secret deals have plagued the reality stars’ TV marriage.
And with tempers flaring, the stunning beauty therapist took matters into her own hands kicking her ‘husband’ out.
‘There was a lot of shocking situations between those two that didn’t make it on to TV,’ says a friend. ‘They needed a couple people believed in, so when things started to go wrong, they just edited it out.’
Putting up with his partying, Sarah spent hours worrying about Telv’s whereabouts, and when he was with her, he would often have too many drinks and pass out before bedtime.
Turning his phone off, the machinery technician enjoyed a two-day bender with fellow contestant Ryan.
‘Once she realised what was going on, she was devastated,’ says the friend. ‘Sarah had been unlucky in love before the show, she felt so alone and wanted out.’
But desperate to keep them together, producers made every effort to convince Sarah that Telv was just stressed.
With Telv banned from partying or even leaving the apartment without permission, the experiment continued.
‘It did get better after that,’ confirms the friend. ‘And she really did start to fall for him. She could see a future together. The bosses did everything they could to please them and make it work, there were even rumours of bonus pay cheques the longer they stayed and worked on it.’
Hoping the constraints of cameras and filming schedules had caused their woes, the pair decided to stay together.
‘During the grand finale, Telv says he is going to move to be with her,’ says the pal.
The couple set up home at Sarah’s place, but after a row in February, the pretty redhead chucked her lover out.
‘She just realised he needs to grow up and won’t ever change,’ says the pal. ‘She is heartbroken, but she won’t be second best.’
