Lindsay Lohan is coming back for the next season of The Masked Singer – but the news has resulted in even more controversy for the show, which already mired in a string of scandals.
According to top media analyst Peter Cox, Ten has made a mistake by rehiring the expensive US import.

‘I think it looks silly for the show and lowers the credibility of it. I don’t think she contributes anything to the show and she lacks local knowledge,’ he told The Daily Telegraph’s Confidential.
‘She’s not able to guess who the right person is, not that it’s easy, but she keeps putting up LA people who couldn’t possibly be on the show.’
This comes as the show faces accusations that the process could be ‘rigged’ in some celebrity singers’ favour.
“They’re evicting people based on their celebrity status,” an insider this week claimed to New Idea. “Their plan is to get rid of the least famous people first and save the bigger names until the end so they can build up hype around the show and keep audiences intrigued.”
The insider also alleges the voting order is predetermined “well ahead of time” and audience votes don’t count for anything. “It’s a complete gimmick,” they reveal.
“They don’t actually count [the votes]. That’s why they never bother to show the percentage of votes.”
It’s not the first time the show has been accused of being fake, with viewers suggesting on social media that the celebrities weren’t actually performing their songs live.
Viewers were quick to slam the singers on social media, suggesting they weren’t actually performing their songs live.
“Every single one of those performers was lip-syncing. There is no way they could sing so clearly from underneath that big heavy mask,” one user wrote.
“Everyone knows that no-one in singing live on this s**t right? Literally the worst show on TV,” another said.
The show was a hit in the US, but it also sparked controversy there when fans questioned if the stars were really singing behind the costumes.
Despite the speculation, celebrity judge Jackie ‘O’ Henderson is adamant that they are singing live.
