Beautiful women more likely to have girls, expert says

What does that mean for mums with boys?

If you happen to have a clan of baby boys, sorry ’bout it. According to Dr. Satoshi Kanazawa of the London School of Economics attractive women are more likely to conceive girls.

The research tracked 17,000 British babies from their birth in 1958. When those 17,000 babies turned 7, Dr. Kanazawa asked their teachers to rate the children on their ‘attractiveness.’

Those same children were then interviewed at the age of 45, where it was concluded that the women who’d been rated most attractive as children were more likely to have had daughters.

Another study undertaken by Markus Jokela at the University of Helsinki had similar findings.

Assessing the attractiveness of 1,244 women and 997 men, it was revealed that ‘pretty’ women had 16% more children, and particularly attractive women had 6% more children.

Men who were considered to be ‘not very good looking’ had 13% fewer children than other men.
