The footage comes as up to a third of Australian adults are expected to buy a ticket for Thursday night’s $80 million Powerball draw – the second highest jackpot Aussies have seen since the game’s launch 23 years ago.
In the last year, Powerball winners across Australia have pocketed an eye watering $398,575,649.10 in prize money, Media Centre reports.
This figure included a Sydney woman who bagged a record breaking $107 million in January, the biggest lottery win in Australian history.
Over the past 12 months, New South Wales and Victoria have seen three Powerball winners while Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia saw one winner each.
Statistics from the National Lottery show the numbers 2 and 17 are the most frequently drawn, while 1 and 12 are pulled least often.
