The pair in the ‘most relatable nightclub photo in history’ reveal what was going on

The photo quickly became a meme.

Recently, a nightclub photo dubbed the “most relatable photo” went viral for all the right reasons. In the image – captured at Milk Tuesday at the Bourbon nightclub in Edinburgh, Scotland – a man shouts into the ear of a very bored looking woman.

It has now been revealed that the pair in the photo are long-time friends Patrick Richie and Lucia Gorman, and they have broken their silence on what happened at the moment that photo was captured.

Talking to Evening Standard newspaper, Lucia admitted that she didn’t remember what it was that Patrick was saying to her before brutally saying, “Patrick always talks rubbish so it could have been anything.”

The pair, who are both 18-years-old, revealed that they were old friends from school and hadn’t seen each other in a few years. Lucia informed The Sun that she was most likely ready to go home at the time the photo was taken.

I don’t know what he said but I know I definitely wasn’t having any of it,” she explained.

I feel like it was probably the end of the night and I was definitely ready for my bed,” she continued.

Facebook user Alex Hall posted the image and captioned it “Congratulations to Milk in Edinburgh on taking what I suspect may be the most relatable nightclub photo in the history of the art.”

The image was quickly picked up and shared as a meme with people adding captions underneath the image with examples of what the man in the checkered shirt was saying.

It was reported by Newsbeat that Patrick had joked with them that it “doesn’t look good” for him. The photographer of the nightclub, David Wilkinson, revealed to the publication that “I don’t like just taking pictures of people smiling. I like to notice the little details, so when I saw it I thought this definitely needs to go up.”

Meanwhile, Lucia has since seen the funny side in the image, admitting, “It’s all pretty funny to be honest.”
