Authorities are investigating claims that the doctor of a 29-year-old man who died suddenly of heart disease advised him just the day before that he only had the flu.
Samuel Seeto died in his Forestville home from acute myocarditis – a viral infection of the lining of the heart, on December 6, 2015.
His father claims that Mr Seeto had visited Dr Bhikhubhai Patel at the Chatswood Medical and Dental Centre just the day before, who had told Mr Seeto he simply had a bad flu.
7 News report that CCTV footage of the medical centre waiting room shows Mr Seeto collapsing before his appointment, the second time in 2 days.
Dr Patel says he told Mr Seeto that if he did not start to feel better that he should go to the hospital. But Mr Seeto’s father, Lawrence, said that Dr Patel said no such thing.
Mr Seeto was told to take cold medicine, and rest up.
He died at 4pm the next day.
Dr Patel told the court that he was sorry for his ‘role in the tragic loss of their son’.
