Bright and early yesterday morning, Georgie Gardner made her highly anticipated Today Show debut – and it was all smooth sailing as expected for the television vet.
Now Gardner’s co-host, Karl Stefanovic, has revealed what his biggest fear for the new host was going in to their first live show.
Speaking to 9Honey the long-time Today host said, ‘The biggest concern I had leading into this morning was that she wouldn’t wake up.
‘So I was greatly excited to see her show up this morning.’
Stefanovic continued, ‘She is Georgie Gardner, she was as good as we all know she is and she just handled it with such professionalism and such grace.
‘This is the start of a new era for the TODAY show and it couldn’t have gotten off to a better start.’
Gardner, who has replaced Lisa Wilkinson on the popular morning show, is no stranger to pressures of being live on air so early in the morning.
The 47-year-old journalist was the show’s main news presenter from 2007 to 2014, before taking some time off to focus on her family.
Gardner has two children with husband Tim Baker – Bronte, 12 and Angus, 10.
