Six youths have been arrested over a fire that has destroyed a home famous for being the Gold Coast set of reality television series Big Brother.

Police confirmed the fire broke out at a property at Coomera broke out around 2.15pm on Saturday.
Six children were arrested after being spotted running from the site. They are between the ages of 11 and 15.

The Gold Coast Bulletin reports that five police vehicles and six firefighter crews were on the scene as the fire tore through the property.

The now abandoned property – which was the site of the hit show Big Brother for 11 seasons – has since decayed and been vandalised and is owned by Queensland Investment Corporation.
