Speaking of an urge to get back to his voiceover work, John said: “I just want to get back to that. I’m pretty sure that I can, I’ve just got to take it carefully and be patient.”
But the experience hasn't been without its positives.
“I’ve learnt what it’s like to be disabled,” he reflected.
“It gives me a new insight into what other disabled people go through, not just for nine months, but for their whole lives. I’ve got a new understanding and a new empathy with them. So that’s a plus factor.”
He now has a number of surgeries ahead to continue constructing his jaw, and will return to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in coming weeks.
Best of luck, John!
